This project was a modular development that delivered a much-needed upgraded administrative facility for the hospital staff. The new building is located on the Telford site’s western edge on a brownfield land parcel. The building is comprised of a two-storey modular structure. It contains 4 large open-plan offices and successfully delivers over 380m² of additional hospital floor space.
Tandem managed the design and procurement of this modular constructed building, in order to provide a desperately needed office facility in as short a timeframe as possible. The project allowed for greater social distancing measures during the height of COVID-19.

Social distancing during construction |
Due to the building being constructed during the peak of COVID, a number of national measures meant that close proximity of workers on site was not permitted. It was agreed with the contractor to appropriately stagger work periods and insert intervals for particular works in order to best deliver against a tight programme. |

Limited timeframe |
A master strategic programme was detailed prior to any further contractor engagement. This allowed the client to have a clear vision of the project timescales and thus agree with the contractor a tight construction programme.
