Jaguar Pub

Project Name:  Refurbishment of former Jaguar Pub
Location: Coventry
Client: Belgrade Theatre
Net Value: £1,200,000.00

Following the recent refurbishment works at the main theatre, the Belgrade were offered the opportunity to work with the Local Authority and a well-known property developer to convert the former Jaguar Pub approx. 100m from the theatre, to provide a separate performance and conference space to provide another revenue stream for the theatre.

Client needed a rep to be the main link between themselves and the property developer and their design and construction teams. We worked with the theatre to compile their brief for the space, reviewed and vetted the designs to ensure they met the theatre’s needs and aspirations for this new space. We also worked with two interior design students from the local university to provide an interior design service for the conference space, as this was to be targeted at university students in conjunction with the local higher education providers.

Project Challenge

Our Response

The key challenge was to ensure the developers teams clearly understood the client needs and aspirations and working to ensure these were maintained at all times.

Ensuring there were proper development agreements in place allowed us to have the control to direct the teams to ensure the brief was delivered. We also kept close watch on the construction, highlighting issues and deviations as the works progressed to ensure the right outcome.

The construction works suffered from a number of externally caused problems (2 adjacent but unconnected, Water Authority leaks).

We were able to bring our knowledge of the local area and the relevant parties involved to assist with dealing with the issues before they had a major impact on the works.

We’ve worked with Tandem on several projects and I am impressed by their commitment to us as their client, and their drive to see projects through. Our most recent project was tricky, and the Tandem team worked well together and brought all players to the table to bring it to a successful conclusion.
